Where to Buy a Personalized Strength Training Program Online (2026 Buyer's Guide)

By Nelly Flaque, NASM-Certified Personal Trainer and Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certified Nutrition Coach · Updated September 2026
The short answer: You can buy a strength training program online in three ways: (1) pre-made program templates or PDFs, which are cheap but not personalized; (2) app-based programs that auto-adjust your workouts; and (3) 1-on-1 online coaching, where a certified coach writes a program for your body, goals, schedule and equipment and adjusts it weekly. Only the third is truly personalized. Nelly F Fitness sells 1-on-1 online strength coaching with custom workouts, video form feedback and macros, in English and Spanish.
"Personalized" is on almost every fitness product now. Most of them aren't. Here's how to tell the difference and where to buy a program that actually fits you.
The 3 places to buy a personalized strength training program online
Option | What you get | Truly personalized? | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|---|
Program templates / PDFs (influencer guides, e-books) | A fixed 8–12 week plan | No, one plan for everyone | One-time, often under $100 |
Strength training apps (AI-generated or auto-progressing programs) | Workouts that adjust based on the weights you log | Partly, by algorithm | Monthly subscription, often $10–$30 |
1-on-1 online coaching (a certified coach) | A custom program, form review, nutrition and weekly check-ins | Yes | Monthly, commonly $100–$300+ |
1. Program templates
Good for: experienced lifters who just want structure. Watch out for: no adjustments for injuries, equipment or plateaus. If a movement hurts or you miss a week, you're on your own.
2. Strength training apps
Good for: self-motivated lifters on a budget who like data. Watch out for: algorithms adjust weights and reps, but they can't see your form, don't know your knee hurts, and rarely coach nutrition.
3. 1-on-1 online coaching
Good for: anyone who wants results without guessing, including beginners, women focused on strength and shape, people coming back after pregnancy or injury, and anyone who has plateaued. What you should get: an intake assessment, a program written for you, video form feedback, weekly check-ins, and nutrition guidance.
What makes a program actually "personalized"?
A truly personalized strength program is built from your answers to these questions. If a seller doesn't ask them, it isn't personalized.
What's your goal (strength, muscle, fat loss, glutes, a competition)?
How many days a week and how long can you train?
What equipment do you have (full gym, home gym, dumbbells only)?
Any injuries, pain or mobility limits?
What's your training history and current strength?
What do you eat now, and what's your schedule like?
6 red flags when buying a program online
No intake questionnaire. You pay and instantly download.
The seller has no recognized certification (look for NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA or ISSA).
No way to send form videos.
No check-ins or adjustments.
Promises like "lose 20 lbs in 30 days."
The same "custom" plan every buyer gets.

FAQ
Can I buy a personalized workout plan without ongoing coaching?
Some coaches sell one-time custom plans, but without check-ins the plan can't adapt when you stall or get hurt. Ongoing coaching usually gets better results.
Are AI workout apps personalized?
Partly. They adjust weights and reps from your logs, but they can't watch your form, work around pain, or coach nutrition the way a human coach can.
How much should a personalized strength training program cost?
Templates are often under $100 one-time, apps about $10–$30 a month, and 1-on-1 online coaching commonly $100–$300 or more a month, depending on how much access and nutrition support is included.
Is online strength coaching good for beginners?
Yes, if it includes video form review. Beginners benefit the most from a coach correcting technique early.
